You may find the bcd corrector on the boot disc will correct Vista bcd entries - but not Win 7 entries. You are not likely to use that feature and it won't do any harm - it just hasn't been updated to recognize 7. Running Vista I accidentally clicked the non 64 install and got "does not support this OS" error. Started the correct 64 install and was given the Modify, repair or remove options.

In 48's case, you run into issues due to windows remembering which drive had been connected to this computer. It doesn't matter what is set in BIOS or in boot.
There is a simple registry edit to fix this issue before taking out the original drive C. Best practice is to have both drives in place, boot into drive D, then swap the drive designations in registry.

Was running fine then it froze my system!! Rebooting forced Vista's start up repair, which said it couldn't repair the startup. Luckily, just pushing F8 got me back into windows. Had to manually delete its directory. Then I rebooted and used Glary Utilities free to clean and optimize the registry. Four hours of new experience
