I have latest drivers for my video card, sound card, and BIOS. I searched this site for help, but could not find any, so I am posting as a last resort.

I had this problem when I was using amule on a different ubuntu partition the temp files were stored on the vista partition and amule must have corrupted the files. Sorry I was tired lol I meant higher frequency. Usually you can see it during POST when the computer starts. My RAM was supposed to be and my Bios recognized it as I changed it manually and now it works fine.

If the bios cannot read the spd correct it could list the memory wrong. Sometime when you do a Bios update you have to reset the bios. This might sound like an odd question, but could Winamp possibly be the sinner? Then we went on to blaming the harddrive controller, which sounded like a 'perfect' problem.
