This solution might also apply to other similar products or applications. I need to find the serial number for my NI hardware, but the device is in a remote location so I can't look at the device label. I do, however, have remote access to the computer my device is connected to. Some Philips Respironics' therapy devices use an SD card to store patients' therapy data. Trilogy Evo devices use USB drives. Note : Be sure to clear the memory of any previously used therapy devices, modems, or media, prior to reassigning them to other patients.

Consult the documentation included with the therapy device or modem for instructions on clearing its memory. Never remove media from the reader while data transfers to or from the card. The Data Card Utilities window displays. Note : When you attempt to use the Data Card Utilities in Care Orchestrator, you will be prompted to install the latest version of Data Card Utilities if you do not have it installed.

Follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the latest version of Data Card Utilities.

If the patient information on the card matches the current patient, a Download Therapy Data button displays. A Not the right patient? After clicking the Not the right patient? If the serial number on the media is currently assigned to another patient that the current user can access, you are given several options. Download without assigning will download the data to this patient, but not assign the device.

Each series of numbers can be customized for each type of file. PDM can be set up to automatically generate the number and to use this number as the file name.

The serial number first needs to be set up in the Administration tool. Open the Administration tool and connect to the vault. This will open the dialog box where you can name the Serial Number, choose if the number comes from a list or a string, select the format for the string, and the increment value. For this example, the Part Number serial number will be from a string. This is done through a field on the data card. When this field is configured, PDM will assign a number to the field from the serial number series.

In the Administration Tool, open the card node and locate the card to which the serial number will be added.

Double-clicking on the card will open the card editor. Keep in mind that in order to use the card editor you will need to have a local vault view on the machine and be signed into the vault. The permission to use the card editor is tied to the user that is logged into the vault view.
